Status of applications - Pre Interview Announcements now on

For most of you waiting on the status of your applications, it seems the days are becoming longer.
In fact,  for those who submitted earlier and completed their application earlier, the wait is longer. However, there are also those candidates who submitted their on line application early,  but only managed to complete their application (supporting docuents complete) recently-  your application wait is not very long as your  application is a  recently completed application only .

We are batch mode  in the selection process- and only completed applications are processed for assessment.

Starting from this week, early interview announcements will be made. These interview announcements will continue go on during the round.
Selected applicants will receive an e-mail invite for interview. The pre-interview means the candidate has been chosen for interview and must now complete a pre-interview questionnaire and send back to the Admissions office. You will have to wait for the date of your actual interview which can happen 1 or 2 weeks from the submission date of the pre-interview questionnaire. Please wait- we will contact you soon.

With this we will also update status on the application status system. Which means you can see if you are also progressing towards the interview round, or not. It means that you will have to wait until the completion of the round if necessary ,for a final decision of your application. Of course, it can also happen that you get to be denied admission or offered admission, earlier!

Again, if your application is not complete for one reason or another (lacking documents), your assessment gets to be delayed further ! And if not complete during the deadline, your application will be moved to the next round. So completing your application, after submitting your on-line application form, is a must.

Referees Reports - more clarifications

A few clarifications on referees reports :

1. Are referees reports sent by Nanyang to the referees?
Completed Referees reports are sent by your referees  to us (Nanyang) by using and completing the referee report template,  which you can find/download in the website. http://www.nanyangmba.ntu.edu.sg/admissions/application-process/

You,as the applicant, is the one sending this report template (form) to your referees.(after you download the form).
Your referees will then fill up the form and submit the completed referees report to us  via e-mail to mba.admissions@ntu.edu.sg , using their official work e-mail.

Referees reports should not sent back to you by your referees, nor should you be the one to upload it. Referees reports completed by your referees, should go directly to us and sent by your referees, via e-mail.

2. Have you (Nanyang)  received your referees reports?
Typically, you (applicant)  should follow up with your referees, if they have already submitted to us their reports-
At present , as we are now in the period of verification of the completeness of your  application (now!), we will be checking too, and will advise you by e-mail  if we have not received it.

3. I(applicant) uploaded the referees report instead of my referees sending it via e-mail.
We will consider the report still,  but we will have to do an extra step- verification with your referees.

4. I (applicant)used a different referees report format. What should I do ?.
We prefer that you use the template that we have provided for. Submitting a referees report using a different format will not be helpful to your cause. In the referees report, the referees also do some asssessment and scores are reflected as well.  If we deem necessary, we will e-mail you to re-submit the referees report. Referees report are standardized in order to have a fair evaluation for each submitted report.

5. Will my application be assessed if referees report are not received yet.
Your application will be deemed incomplete, but we will still look into it (that's the advantage of submitting completed application forms early during the round)  but the assessment will not be completed. This means you will not progress to the next stage- interview stage.

Round 1 applications is now closed-what next ? Verifying the applications

The stroke of midnight on 31st December officially closes Round 1 application. If you missed this date & time, your application will be considered for Round 2. And for our Round 1 applicants (and those in Round 2 too) , I share your excitement to get admitted first to this new 12 month MBA program.
For us here in the Admissions Team, it means the start of the selection journey -from the assessments and then selection for interview.

Round 1 is batch mode. This means we assess all the applications submitted by the deadline of this application round. For those who submitted and completed their application earlier, it also meant your asssessment has been completed earlier. After completing the assessment of the entire batch of applications received during the round, selection for the interview begins. (there will be exceptions of course)

For those of you who have submitted applications, we are checking on the completeness of such applications.

A complete application consist of :
1) on line application form
2) all required supporting documents (including referees' reports)

As many of you  would be asking or anxious if you have submitted complete applications (referees reports are sent by referees) , please bear with us as we complete the checking, which will take some time depending on the number of applications received (typically no more than 2 weeks from the deadline, 31 Dec 2012).
So no need to send us e-mail asking on this aspect - we will use up our time more to check on the completeness of your applications  rather than reply to the e-mail queries, ok?

We will advise by e-mail  and contact ONLY those that have missing/lacking supporting documents. Or maybe we have not received them yet (especially referees report). The e-mail notification will commence from 4 January for you to follow up submission, and completion of your application. You will be given time to complete the application  so we can complete the assessmentand you must complete so within the deadline stipulated in the e-mail.

If  you do not receive an e-mail from us during the period of checking , it means your application is complete and is being processed. So just sit tight and wait for the announcements for interview if you are selected. Only shortlisted candidates will be interviewed.

So from now till end January,  we will be busy doing the assessments. During this time, some of you will be called for the interview!  Watch for that e-mail.
